Tonight's the Night

Yes, after several weeks' anticipation, tonight is finally the night!!

I will pin my hair up in a vintage style like this (as best as I can considering I'm still in the process of growing my bangs out):

Color my lips with a bit of brick-red lipstick

Slip into a vintage-style dress (I will be overdressed, I know, but I'm okay with that)

Ah, if I only had a fur coat to complete my vintage ensemble.

I will head out to the theatre for the 70th anniversary celebration of Casablanca---my #2 movie of all-time.

Dooley Wilson will "play it, Sam"

Victor Laszlo will continue his work for the cause of freedom

Rick and Louis will begin "a beautiful friendship"

And Rick and Ilsa will remember that they'll "always have Paris."

To see this beloved movie on the big-screen is an experience I am beyond excited about.  I'll be sharing it with my daughter (who is also my best friend).

Are any others of you taking in this anniversary event in your own city?  I'd love to hear about it if you are!!

    1. Thanks, Charity. I'm sure we will. Oh, and we're starting our evening with dinner at the restaurant right across from the theatre...P.F. Changs. Hard to go wrong with that.

    1. Oh, that is not the dress I will be wearing. That was just a picture I found online. My dress is black and white, but its skirt is similar to the photo.

    1. I'm sure it won't be the case, but I would love for everyone who attends to dress up. I love to see men in suits and ties and women in pretty dresses.

  6. We just watched "Casablanca" on Netflix. It was WONDERFUL!! Although I thought I had (know so much about the movie including many famous lines) seen it before, I'm not sure that I'd watched it completely. We'll be watching again--and again.

Love that you'll be properly attired. I was in my gown and robe (that would have "night" not "royal" accompanying).

I have been totally absorbed in our warm weather and all that it brings!! Our son was thrilled to find some snow. He said it took three hours to go thirty miles before reaching the Tahoe ski area. Ah, the perserverance of the young!! Hope you have sunshine to melt your snow fast.

    Best,
    Bonnie

    1. Bonnie, I'm so glad you finally got a chance to watch the film in its entirety. And SO glad that you enjoyed it. And, I agree, there are SO many famous lines..."We'll always have Paris" being one of my faves.

Thank you for the warm wishes. It's still quite cool, but at least no snow today.

  7. Hi Patti,
WOW you girls look gorgeous. How wonderful to be going to the movie to celebrate the anniversary of Casa Blanca. I am so excited for you and wish I was going too. I have not heard of any showings here. Can't wait to read about this great night.
Have fun going back in time and enjoy every minute my friend.

    Much love and Happy Spring,

    1. Celeste, that photo was from last summer...when the gardens were in full bloom.

I don't know how many cities are showing the film...over 100, I think. However, even large markets which you would think would have a showing aren't having one. Case in point, friends in Pittsburgh would like to go, but there is no showing anywhere near them. Strange that my "medium-sized" city is, but a major metropolitan city like Pittsburgh isn't.

  8. Oh Patti, what a lovely picture of you and your daughter! She's gorgeous and I can definitely see the mother/daughter resemblance. How fun that you two can share this together! Maybe you should buy some bubble gum cigarettes and a long cigarette holder to complete your vintage ensemble:)

I still haven't seen Casablanca but it's on my list. Have a wonderful time!!!

    1. Victoria, it's funny, I don't see a resemblance between us, but it's usually hard to see that in yourself.

Ah, candy cigarettes...haven't thought about them in years. I loved them as a kid!! Did you?

Yes, see CASABLANCA. I think you'll love it.

  9. There aren't any near where I live but I so wish there was! Casablanca is my all time favorite and I'd love to see it on the big screen. Have a blast! Love your vintage ensemble and the fact that you're making it a mother/daughter evening.

  10. Nana, my daughter and I have mother/daughter outings fairly regularly. We recently went to MY FAIR LADY when it made its stop in our city on its way around the country. I am blessed beyond measure to have such a close relationship with my daughter. (Sorry about your name...I don't know how to get the marks over the first "a".)

  11. Just went this afternoon! The ONLY way to see this film is on the big screen. If you're interested in my thoughts I'm commenting on the film on my film blog, www.journeysinclassicfilm.com! Hope you had fun!

  12. Dearest Patti, so lovely to hear from you and I'm glad all is well. You look so darling in your photos, especially with Ella. She too has bloomed into a beautiful woman!
Sadly I have not been to a cinema or theatre for years, I watch all my movies on TV.
Keeping myself busy and enjoying the Spring weather.
    Love and Hugs

There are many wonderful blogs out there in blogland---and so little time to read them all. Therefore, I am truly humbled that you took the time to not only stop by my little place in the blogosphere, but to share your thoughts as well. Thank you for visiting...and for commenting.
