January is "Loretta Young Month" here at They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To. This beautiful lady, whose 100th birthday is January 6th, is TCM's star of the month, so I am looking forward to having the opportunity to catch some of her early works that I've never seen before. I'll be reviewing several of Miss Young's films, as well as celebrating her in other ways.
Of course, I'll also be watching and reviewing non-Loretta films, but she is the star who will be seeing most of the action here this month. I hope you'll join me; maybe you'll discover a new "must-see" Loretta film, or maybe you'll learn something new about her, but no matter what, I hope you will celebrate her 100th birthday with me.
Classic movies are not just antiquated films from a bygone era...rather, they are beautiful, well-acted, well-written gems that ought not to fade into obscurity. Truly, Hollywood just doesn't make 'em like they used to!!! I hope you'll discover some must-sees by your visit here.

I know you love biographies, and since you also love Loretta, I am going to recommend her authorized biography, "Forever Young...the Life, Loves, and Enduring Faith of a Hollywood Legend." I started it the other day and am enjoying it immensely. It is a delightful read.
DeleteI will be there!

ReplyDeleteOr was I thinking of Shirley Temple's weekly TV show ??? I thought Loretta had one too for awhile...
ReplyDeleteLoretta Young did have a TV show that ran from 1953 - 1961 that she hosted and played many different characters. Glad my memory is still intact LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, Kris, your memory IS still intact. Loretta did indeed have a weekly TV show. According to the "resources" section in her authorized biography, there is a 7-video collection of the show available.
DeletePatti, my Hubs ( Papa ) was logged in on his email account when I posted above this comment...sorry ;)
