ABOUT THIS BLOGGER

Welcome to my blog!  I'm Patti, and I am completely addicted to classic films.  They are one of my biggest passions in life.  While for the most part old movies lack the wow-factor special effects of today's films, I think they possess things far greater...amazing acting which is not often seen nowadays, as well as the character and spirit of days long gone.  My hope is that through my writings, my passion for Hollywood's Golden Years will be caught by my readers.  I hope that as I share snippets of movies I've seen, my readers will be intrigued enough to track down a film and then discover what I already know to be true...they just don't make 'em like they used to!

Other loves include: all things vintage, Southern, and feminine; writing; genealogy/family history research; antique shops; warm weather; the beach; the 1930's and 1940's; picnics; nature walks; interior decorating; college football; hanging out with my kids; collecting teacups; and traveling.

I've been blogging since March, 2006, with my blogs changing as the seasons of my life did.  In the beginning, I was a homeschooling mom of 2, on the path to adopt more children, and my blog, Heart for Home and Orphans, reflected those passions. As my children finished high school and our hoped-for adoption fell through, my blog focus changed to a home decorating theme, with an occasional classic film review thrown in.  In February, 2011, I took the plunge and started a blog devoted solely to classic films, and for awhile, I kept up with two blogs; alas, it's time-consuming enough to maintain one, so I abandoned the decorating blog and focused my energies on this one.  My seven years of blogging have brought many wonderful people into my life, some of whom have become incredibly dear friends.

While I currently live in Boise, Idaho, and consider it a nice place to live, my real home is Florida.  Living in a land-locked state and having cold winters has been beyond difficult to get used to.  You can take the girl out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the girl!

I know that there are many wonderful blogs out there in blogland; I know, also, that there is so little time to read them all.  Therefore, I am truly humbled that you took the time to stop by my little place in the blogosphere.  I hope your visit was enjoyable.

  2. Bruce, I am right there with you...completely and totally obsessed with the classics and wishing that, somehow, my love for them could earn me a living. Too bad we all can't have Robert Osborne's job!

    1. Bunny, while I don't have a whole lot of local friends with whom I can actually watch a classic film, I do have a lot of internet friends with whom I can "talk" about them. My daughter (23), who is my best friend, will watch many movies with me; in fact, on Valentine's Day, we took in "An Affair to Remember" together at our local historic theatre. Sadly, though, she draws the line at Gary Cooper. Though I adore the man, my daughter can't stand him, so she rarely is willing to watch one of his films with me.

The TCM Film Festival would be great, as would the Classic Cruise. One of my friends and I were just talking about how awesome it would be to go on the cruise. We both said we were putting it on our "bucket list."

  4. Just found your blog and think it's a wonderful collection of pix and info. Always happy to see others prefer REAL movies and not the product of today. Thanks for your hard work.

    1. Miss Marty, thank you for visiting...and for your kind words. Like you, I am always thrilled to meet others who appreciate the great films (and great stars!) of yesteryear. Those who aren't into the classics just don't "get" it...they look at my passion for "black and white movies and dead men" and deem me some sort of a nut. Ah, but people like you understand and can relate to that passion, making us kindred spirits, so to speak.

Thanks again for visiting. I hope you'll visit often...and that you'll discover some wonderful films you've never heard of before.
